Alright today at lunch, I pull up to a redlight beside a nice looking custom painted and exhaust crotch rocket.
he asked to see what it had, so we left the light and it was neck and neck, when he hit second, i pulled just a lil but when the vette went to hit 2nd the rpms just pegged out and it would shift into second...so I let off and dropped the rpms down like 2000 and it shifted....after being kinda embarrased I just drove home and on the way home, i tried it again and it did the same thing...
Any ideas on what is going on? What to look for?
Or is the tranny shot and I need to head to the shop?
1998 A4 85,000miles,only mods are corsa exhaust and slp intake
My friend did the sme thing except his was going into 3rd. Now he can't shift into 5th,unless he goes to 6th then back to 5th. The vette machanics around here say it's the snycro's and a bent fork in the tranny. Just currious do you have the stock shifter still in it?

Plus, I recommend not to be street racing. Take it to the track. I know there is one not to far from were you live.
I had a lady in my office today telling me about two accidents she was in because of fast driving or street racing. She barely lived from both events, she was the victim.
Alright the "Sun Shell" broke or somthing, a few of the clutches were burned up, so they are going to do a full rebuild on it, and replace the shell with and aftermarket one that is supposed to be better then oem...also going to rebore one of teh valves, and put in a new sleve. Along with everything else like new bands and new torque converter...
$2471.60 rebuilt out the door installed in the car...with a 12 mo 12,000 warranty....
Does that sound about right?
Luckly I have Warranty Direct and they are covering $2150 of it. So im not out of pocket much. But i wanted see if that is what the going rate on the rebuild would be?
this isnt a street racing post, what is the deal with that any ways, Im not bragging that I was street racing, I mearly was stating how I discovered the problem, and asking advice on a TRANSMISSION PROBLEM...
Thank you very much!!

perhaps if you had worded the first part of the inital post differently, the possibility of this being about a street race would not have come up.. could be wrong, but I doubt it.. BTW age has nothing to do with it. here's the rule..
