Default Help with invisicord...

Hey, anyone who has installed an invisicord in their c5, just got mine and for the life of me I can't see what I'm doing wrong...(dense is my middle name though) the V1 will work only when mirror lights are on. Close the door, wait for vanity lights to go out, V1 goes out. Does not come on with the ignition...think I am using orange and black wires in harness as suggested...any help appreciated!

Assuming you still have the stock mirror, with the 4 plug connector, I used the two wires on the top side of the connector, and it worked just fine...

Isn't it orange and brown you're supposed to use?

Default Hey Ken...

Thanks for the response, as I look at the website, you could be right. For a 99 C5, it lists black and orange for a standard mirror and for 00+ with autodim, it lists orange and brown. And I believe I have auto dim, so....maybe I follow 00+ directions?

is the connector on the back 4 wires or is it 7 (maybe 8)? The autodim uses the larger one, and the 4 wire is for the older, non-autodimming one. I do not mean how many wires are in it, rather how many can it hold?

Default Thanks...

C5 Chick, have seen that on website, but thanks for pointing it out and offering help!

Ptdrummer, as I look at it, it's possible that it could hold more than four but I can't be sure...

All is moot for now as I of the sensitive hands managed to break the connector off 1 wire anyways...

That's why I keep wrenches away from meself too!

Default Just as a follow-up...

As I mentioned I broke the connector on my new InvisiCord shortly after receiving it. Sent off an email to the vendor and just as fast they offered to send a replacement cord right away! Now that is customer service!

Hats off to them!

sounds like you're experiencing the Tim Taylor syndrom - I know it well...

So let's try a different approach - is the connector square or rectangular? Square is the old style (with 4 connectors) - non, auto dimming...

Replacement went out today, but with all the IRS business, it might be delayed a day or so, but you are only one state over!
