Air Bag Light On.. I Found The Problem!
my horn has been on/off lately.. and he expalined that its the clock spring thats the culprit as its between the sterring column and the airbag/horn.
anyhow... 1 hour labor to install the clock spring and probably another $40 for the part.. thank god!
That clock spring,, is in the horn assembly? Is that the spring that goes through a plastic disk just under the air bag about 2"long ? I had problems with that . My horn would not work at times. They found that the spring was a little out of shape ,, They adjusted it and has been fine so far,,,, touch wood !

apparently, to properly take one out and reinstall a new one is one hour labor, so its not as easy as taking out the airbag and thats that.
at least thats why ive been told by this mechanic.. who knows if he's just tryina **** me for some cash.
They tend to go out on higher mileage cars due to age or if someone took off the steering wheel and rotated the "clock spring" with the wheel off.
1 hour to change it sounds about legit for a shop. If you have a steering wheel puller the whole job should take about 30min. But no shop will charge you 1/2 an hour of labor for anything. Ford (Fraud) charges over $100 for some clocksprings.
