Just thought you guys might be interested in seeing this. I found this "dealer market adjustment" tag attached to the window sticker for the 2004 Z06 I bought last year. I wonder if the original owner actually paid close to that price.
Were dealers actually scalping Z's in 2004?

They were going for a lot below list right at the beginning of the model year. The dealers were trying to sell enough cars to boost/keep their allocations so they could get more C6s the following year. Same thing happened in 96 just before the C5 came out.

I know that if I paid that much over sticker for a car I'd never admit it on an internet forum!
Oh yeah, I agree. Needless to say I didn't pay anywhere neeeeear that for it. I just thought it was a bit "gutsy" for a dealer to even TRY to charge that much extra for a car.
That's common practice here in Houston at Landmark Chevy(commonly referred to as Landshark Chevy) and Parkway Chevy; it really stinks that some people actually think they have to pay it. When looking for a c6 I couldn't find anything local that compared to the prices from the vendors here on this forum.
Look at the markup's on the Gt500's, and C6 Z06. Unbelievable!...
I've actually seen a Gt500 roll off our showroom floor for $92,000, now if that isn't highway robbery I don't know what is.
Bill Heard does that and then tries to sell at list after giving you the 10k off! I looked at that particular dealership when I was shopping and comparing vettes in Dec 2003. I finally bought at Demondtrond, although I had a backup car and internet quote from Landmark to help drive the negotiations.
