I had my car dyno tuned on Monday and I was told that my driver's side pre-cat o2 sensor was bad. This was confirmation to me because my car has been running poorly while cruising (WOT is fine) and I was getting pretty bad gas mileage w/o driving it harder than normal. I also noticed that the wire from the front o2 sensor was resting on my headers when I was under there changing the oil a few weeks ago. Not good.
Anyone know how hard it is to replace this wire or where to get it?
I was also told that the stock wiring will not plug into a different brand o2 sensor. Stock is AC Delco, the ones I got were Bosch. Where would I get the wires to fit the Bosch sensors?
My tuner turned off my front o2's for now until I get things fixed. He said it should run better that way but give poor gas mileage. It runs worse though. Hopefully replacing the o2 wire will cure this and I can get my front o2's turned back on.
I don't know about Bosch sensors. I have a set of front sensors off my zo6 that I could send you. I see you have long tubes so I don't think they will reach. I have the rears on the front with plug adapters and the rears turned off. If the old fronts will help you let me know.
Thanks for the offer, I may have to take you up on that.
Why did you put the rear sensors up front? What's that plug adapter? Is it the o2 simulator that you can buy? What do you have installed in the rear locations?
Right now I have the rear o2's deleted but still installed like they would be from the factory. Same with the fronts right now until I get everything fixed.

I bought Bosch sensors and the wires fit fine. Double check if you're getting the right ones.

I was going by what they told me at the GM dealership. I haven't had a chance to check the fitment myself. Do parts stores carry o2 sensor wires as well?

I put the rear into the fronts because they are longer. The fronts are not long enough to reach with long tubes. The rear are programed out just plugs in the holes. The adapters are because the plug fittings are different front to back needed to make the rears plug into front fitting.

I would check the fitment personally, that way you know what's going on because sometimes you can't be too sure about the guys at the parts counter. I'm under the impression however that Bosch/Al Delco should work either way, I never heard of an O2 sensor being vehicle specific.
I just finished swapping out my front driver's side o2 sensor. Wow, that was hard to plug back in
The wire I saw that was resting on my headers was for the rear o2's, so no problem there. I was going to replace that wire. Now I don't need to. Just replaced the front sensor. Should be good to go now.
