I am currently deployed to Iraq as we speak and my wife is back home with my 99 C5. She is trying to take care of it but for some reason the service engine soon keeps coming on and the check engine light. And all the gauges are reading all the way to the right. Im not sure if this is a common problem amoung the 99's or what? I cant really do anything myself over here. BUt if anyone could fill me in on some info of what to do. I just had to have a friend replace the oil sending unit last week since I am still over here.
Doesn't sound like a common prob, but the 1st thing we could have her do is to check to see what codes are being posted. There is a way for her to do that, and it is descrbed in this link. Once she has the codes have her post them on this thread, and we can see what is happeining. PS - where is she at - maybe one of our local folks would step up to going over and giving her a hand.
I also want to pass on my appreciation for all that you and your comrades are doing for us.

Once we have these we can determine - to a degree - what the issue may be.
Thanks for your, and your comrades, service to our country.
Definitely have her check the codes and chances are better than even it's no big deal. Even if it's a problem, at least you will know what it is. For your service!
Thanks to everyone who has replied. I will tell her to check the codes. She said she was going to try have advance auto check the codes. Thanks again to everyone.
Have the battery checked and if that turns out OK, then have the BCM checked (it tends to get wet and cause all kinds of problems). Good luck with the repair and get home safe.
