got a set of tires from them. it's a special order and and the tires came in but they forgot to tell me. so i wait a week and call them back and they said yea, they are in so i drive over and they put them on. they say they will read flat for a few miles and not to worry. i didn't know you could reset the wheels with the magnet trick so i drive out with four "flat" tires. i get home and one is still reading flat so i check it with a tire gauge and sure enough it's 35 PSIG. so i get up in the morning and the DIC "alarms" but the gauge reads 35. drive the 30 odd miles into work and when i get there i check it and it's 35 PSIG. so i think faulty or broken sensor. it alarms on the drive back home and i check it when i get home and sure enough it's fine but the DIC is still reading flat.
on the way back inside the house i glance at the other tire on the opposite side and DAMN! it's flat as a pancake! so i fire up the car and it's off to discount tire. they pump it up and say it's fine. i say BS! it's been flat and running flat for 60 miles and the sidewall looks dark and lost rigidity. the rim is resting on the tire like a regular "flat" tire. this is a brand new $350.00 tire and you will get me a new one. the manager comes over and says it was there fault. they used the wrong type of wheel weight and it caused a leak between the wheel and sidewall. He says one will be in tomorrow they will call me when it comes in.
so i say cool. three days go by and i call them. they say it's in and i can come by and pick it up. i put it on and they first of all won't believe that it's a bad tire. so now i am pissed. we drive the car up on the lift and pull the valve stem so they can see the lack of rigidity in the sidewall. they still want to roll the tire around and ogle it for about 20 minutes before fixing it and when it's done want to charger me the standard $20.00 fee to work on the car and i just went off on them.
in the end i get the new tire put on for free and leave with only a minor head ache.
Good for you. Nice to hear you didnt let them charge you for chit!
I just got tires, rims, and sensors from discount about 6 weeks ago. I was watching the 20 year old kid try to put the front wheels on the rear and said um hey those are the fronts.
Then I leave and the sensors are not programmed
When I program them and check the air, the rears are at 52 psi
My brother bought a new set of Goodyear GSD3s for his C-4 three years ago from a friend of mine that is a manager of a Discount Tire in Grand Rapids MI. Got the best price and service ANY WHERE! I bought a set of C-6 rims and a set of GSD3's for my C-5 and got the best price and service in Grand Rapids two years ago.
Sorry you had bad luck. Remember, people make the business. Maybe that particular manager in an A$$ and has a bunch of rookies for employees. I would recommend Discount Tire to ANYONE!!!!!!!

I for one have always had exceptional service from Discount Tire over the years (so far). Had one of their kids basically call me a liar a couple times, but that was just one idiot that worked there (he didn't last long apparently). With unemployment rate where it is, the "idiot index" is high everywhere. Virtually every business is currently jam-packed with "certified/unqualified" people.
the local one here will rape you as soon as they hear the word corvette
i have never taken my car, always wheels+tires loose
was getting race tires mounted to a bare set of stock wheels, they said no problem, until they walked out to the truck to unload them
"whoa, these are for a corvette, this will cost more"
what? why, they are common everyday 17's and 18's, and they already bare. all you've got to do is mount em.
"these corvette wheels are difficult to mount, we have to charge extra"
Great service from D T in San Antonio for regular cars. My favorite asst mgr just took over a store down in "the valley." (Area near Brownsville, Tx, far south near Mexico.)
Turns out there are two flavors of America's Discount Tires. Both are major chains. One does tires only and the other does anything and everything. They are seperate businesses. The one that does tires only close to where I live, are good people. I always print out a quote from TireRack.com before going in there and they always match the price without hassel. Now the other place, a ladyfriend of mine uses, they are in the business of selling any and all services they can to anyone. Doesn't matter if its needed or not. She's had two of four new tires replaced because they were defective or I think more like, they weren't mounted and balanced right and sure didn't have the correct pressure in them too. Seems it would be pretty hard to screw them up, but they did.
I think they are both called, "America's Discount Tire Company", one has the Inc. added
