Default fog lamp replacement part

Is the 893 interchangeable with the 899? So you can use the 893ST lamps for brighter fog lights? Thanks!

Default 885

I don't know about those numbers. I installed 885 which are 55 watt. They are considerably brighter; not bright as PIAA's but a whole lot cheaper. The 885's throw a nice beam about 10 -15 feet down and in the front of the car. There is a little screw (Torx-10) in the upper right of the plastic housing that will turn them up and down. Back off from your garage (door down) and turn on your low-beam. Mark the lower section with tape and adjust the fogs to that limit. If you want some more light down the road go to Painless.com and look up P/N 30802. That is a relay that you can install to have both hi-beams and the low-beams on at the same time. It's about $30 but the shipping is $10; maybe somebody here knows a better place to get it. There is also a way to have the fogs on during that time too. I've printed out the thread that told how to do it so you will have to do a search on the Forum to find that one.

Good luck!

I also use 855 bulbs and have adjusted my fog lights, it makes a huge difference. I also have silverstars in all headlights. I am going to do the high beam bulb in the low beam, but have not got around to it.

I believe 893 is interchangable with 880 884 885 890 899. I just put in 880 HID fog lights in mine. Do a search on "HID fog" by jdmvette. He has a great writeup w/ pictures. Way better than Piaa's (same amount of money, but half less of the time).

Default thanks

Well, tonight I'll be putting in the 893s, we'll find out if they work! Have to replace my signal lamp anyways (last one burned out about a month ago, should have replaced both, you KNOW the other one will burn out soon)....

I'll try to post some pics of my car too....just another Vette, but then again, it IS a Vette!!

Thanks for all the replies, I may try to go to the HID lamps when I need to replace the headlight units.

I'm doing the 885 bulbs this weekend. Will the existing fuse be OK or should I change to a 15 amp right out of the gate?

Plan to adjust as well.

Thanks as always!
