PASSPORT Issue or not?

Last year about this time, I started getting several false alarms, "LASER" and I would be driving on a back road and within a 100 yards of one another the detector would just go nuts. A couple of weeks later "SELF CALIBRATION" would appear and finally "SERVICE" was required, so I mailed it back to PASSPORT. I mailed it around late May early June time frame last year. Well, I go for a little cruise last night and it starts going nuts, doing the same thing and it has only been nine months since I had it back. (I got my detector back from PASSPORT in July).
I could be in left field on my next statement, but I think there is something going on here, because my detector started acting up the first time, just after the year warranty passed and now less than a year later it is acting the same way.
Is anyone else expereincing this? Before I spend another $70, I might as well get something new, like a V1 (which is something I am seriously considering).
Appreciate any thoughts/suggestions on this, but please refrain from giving me your opnions on even having a detector, I don't care what your thoughts are owning one or not.
Thanks,
Micah

I've had NOTHING but praise for my 8500 x50 , but if you think you need the Valentine V-1, go for it..I doubt it was a clandestine issue as you suggested with the timing of the errors, but I am in agreement with others...I'd spend the money on the latest technology rather than spend more money on repairs on old technology. I truly believe that when you are buying the 'upper crust' detectors that all of them will do great work if the drivers will LISTEN to what it's telling them..there will ALWAYS be a time when NO detector on the planet could have saved you. The Valentines are up there price wise and last I checked you had to order them direct, thats going to make finding a 'deal' a good bit harder unless you find someone that wants to sell one..

I am interested in the 9500 that just came out.

Honestly, the frequency numbers for the top three BEL/V1/PASSPORT are not that different.
There are big problems with the new Escort 9500i and the majority of people are returning them because of less range than the Valentine One and the 8500X50.

They are locking out signals from door openers and the 9500i is not alerting to cops that shoot radar in that area. Owners of the 9500i are also complaining that signals that they lock out are not staying locked out from the day before. They also say that their Sirius/XM radio is cutting out because of the 9500i and its GPS function.
