wow there is a lot of negative in this post from a group that owns a high perf powerful car.
Exciting wasn't it. I can't wait until the next SCCA gtg here in Atl.
I don't think too many of these are high paying wage earners, that is why they mod a POS.
Like everyone else, I see a lot of ricers around here too and way too many driving like that video. As the guy said, for a couple of grand you can make those little cars go fast. What I don't see are all these ricers at the track (road courses.) And on the occasion when one does try the race course & quickly finds that he is not competitive, he doesn't come back. I guess in a way that is a good thing for us who do like racing.
Unfortunately, I don't think it is the thrill of speed, otherwise, they would be more involved in real racing and build their cars correctly...not just power, but tires, brakes, suspension, etc. I think they like the street action, where all around them are driving normally which makes them 'feel fast.' If they have a 'thrill' death wish, so be it...the sad part is that they put so many innocent people at risk.
with everything you just wrote. Also, street racing (drag racing from a stop light) and flying through traffic on the freeway are two different things and should be separated. The latter is more dangerous and does not require a fast car, only a very stupid driver. Race tracks do not solve the problem. It only puts you in your place, which most of these loosers could not handle. I do love the process of putting them in their place at the track though. THAT is FUN!
I recognized some of those roads, too. You do see some of that kind of driving up on 270, but the police are doing more partols between Germantown and Rockville and it seems to be be helping. That's the kind of policing/speed enforcement I'm happy to see.
I've actually noticed this I take 270 alot coming to and from school (college in DC, live in Frederick) and I do seem to see alot of police around here, and im glad to see this because I don't want anyone doing anything stupid around me to put my life in danger
The first guy lives at home with his mommy and saves up enough to mod his car? Nice...
And the other mom doesn't care if her son dies street racing as long as he's doing what he loves? She's the poster child for planned parenthood
I love my Vette and I do love the power at my right foot. But as I'm sure most of you on this site will agree, the real power is not indulging that litlle Ricer at the stoplight.
