I agree, I can't tell you how many times I have been sitting at a red light and someone pulls up to me and asks me what year my vette is, and I respond a 2000 and they seem suprised... but one thing that always happens is that (keep in mind I am only 19(extremely lucky to own a vette I realize that)) people always seem to have advice for me on driving... if my parents trust me enough to allow me to have the vette in the first place don't you think I should be smart enough not to do anything stupid in the first place?
Hey, I wouldn't care if it was a car wash attendant. Not everyone is as lucky as we are to be able to afford a nice car let alone a Corvette, or truth be known, he might have a Vette at home. Whoever it is, if they appreciate the car, it's cool with me. I like to see all sorts of cool rides, street rods, antiques, big wheels, big tires, I even get a chuckle out of the tuners (remembering when I was young and had very little modding money or abilities) some of which are really cool and some are, well a bit tacky, but to each their own as long as it is safe. I would rather the appreciate the car and admire it, than to be jealous and damage it as some on CF have reported. Save the wave (or at least nod, if you are late seeing me wave)!
From: "Officer, are you sure I was going that fast?" Texas
I was with the Lone Star Corvette Club, and we did a show for Chevrolet at Texas Motor Speedway for the NASCAR event. As we were leaving the VIP area to go park our cars to go watch the race, a very good looking lady asked me, "Is that a 2008 corvette?" Blushing, I said, "No maam, its just my 2003 triple black convertible." I thought it was a great compliment about how great the C5 looks, for now and forever.
