Default HID lighting

We have the HID dims. When a car approaches and we dim the lights, they are so dim we just about can't see for a few seconds then slowly brighten to thier normal low beams. Does anyone else experience the same problem?

why are you dimming the lights in the first place?

Your HID's should stay on with your high beams, That way when your using the high beams and dim your lights the HID's are already on. So no warmup time for the HID's like when you first turn them on. Do you have the HID bulbs in the OEM housings? If you do there is a method for doing the above. JDMVETTE is the resident expert on this stuff he can tell you what you need to do but he'll need a little more info than what you have posted.

Eckler's sells a realy that allows you to have both low and hi-beams on at the same time.

This will solve your problem and provide better hi-beam lighting.

The HIDs should stay on when the high beams are on.

Unfortunately, there are some kits floating around out there that have had some wiring issues. Seemed to have impacted one vendor in particular (and we are told that recent kits have had the wiring issues resolved).

There were several threads on the forum. The wiring issues impacted a a few things (i.e., the HIDs wouldn't come on, the HIDs would stay on forever unless you disconnected the battery, the lights would stay up, the HIDs would go out when the high beams were turned on).

I'm not sure if you may have one of those "special" kits... but...

The HIDs should stay on with the high beams.

I have the HID lamp/ballast kit from NTRBL33, and I've sent him a PM asking about this. He's been great so far, so he'll probably have an answer. But I figured I'd ask here on the forum as well. I like the brightness of these lights and the added ability to see off the sides of the road right in front of my car. And they do a great job of lighting up the eyes of nighttime critters so they're easier to see. BUT I've got to have the longer throw as well that only the high beams can give. The HIDs are so bright right in front of the car on the road that my pupils close down and I really can't see that much further ahead of me than I did with stock low beams.

If there's a kit or simple mod (without cutting factory wiring) to keep the HID low beams on when I switch to hi beams, then I'll be very happy. As everyone knows, HID low beams are supposed to stay on when switching to hi beams, and the hi beams are always halogen (or some kind of traditional filament lamp) on OEM HID headlights. Anyone have thoughts on this? A wiring harness or relay should be included in any low beam HID kit, or at least be available for those that still need to use hi beams. Thanks for the advice!

really? it said nothing in my instructions about this. And I don't see how it's possible considering the plug which connects to the low beam lamp goes straight to the ballast for the HID replacement lamp. Unless you have some other kind of mod, I don't see how it's possible. Power cuts off from low beam lamps and switches to hi beam lamps when you press the turn signal stalk forward. I can pull the stalk towards me (flash to pass) and have BOTH hi and low beams on, but I'm not going to drive around holding the hi beams on like that. That would be silly. Tell me more about how both your highs and lows stay on.
