Default How to set the A/C temp?

My 01 Coupe has the auto-air option but I can never seem to get it to work the way I want. If you leave it in 'auto' and set the temp to say '70' then it blows too hard and never seems to get down to 70 on my short drive home (under 5 miles). So, I usually mess with the fan speed and tweek the temp up and down. I'd almost prefer the old fashioned hot/cold **** like on my old camaro.
What about you? Do you have the same problem? Or is it just me?

Don't forget that memory control will preset the AC controls to what they were when the button was pressed.

Generally, I set about 70 after I start and then tweak it down a few degrees when needed. It will switch from recirculation mode to outside air flow when the temps are right based on your settings. It will shift back and forth as needed. The mode button selects the vents upper lower etc. Once you press the mode button it's out of auto mode then.

Ain't that the truth! And thanks Jet-Jock for your info. Guess I need to go back and read the owner's manual. Sure wish I knew some one to fix the brightness on the gage.

If all else fails, read the owner's manual.

Yeah it's interesting how the HUD addresses properly to changes in sunlight but for some reason the internal displays don't. I know when the top in down and in certain sunlight I have to put my hand to shade the displays to see them. But turn into direct sunlight with the HUD and it will go instantly to full brightness and back to its original setting as you make a turn away from the sun.

Here's a few excerpts of interest:

When adjusting the temperature, start with a driver-set
temperature of 73 F (23 C) until you determine
your comfort zone. If you choose 60 F (16 C), the
system will remain at maximum cooling and will not
automatically adjust fan speed or air delivery. If you
choose 90 F (32 C), the system will remain at
maximum heating and will not automatically adjust fan
speed or air delivery. Choosing either maximum setting
will not cause the system to heat or cool any faster.
Turning the **** past either maximum setting has no
effect on the operation of the system.

Press the AUTO button to place the entire system in the
automatic mode. After a five-second display of the
current settings, only the word AUTO and the outside
temperature will be shown on the digital display unless
you are in full cold 60 F (16 C) or full hot 90 F
(32 C), then the word AUTO will not display. The
system will operate to achieve your comfort set
temperature as quickly as possible. The AUTO control
system works best with the windows up and the
removable roof installed or the convertible top up.

I like the last one I'm always forgetting it's in auto mode when I have the top down. DUH!
