I have OEM Z06 screens and a VR2B installed on my Coupe. The screens are definitely not required. However, they sure 1) enhance the look of the car, 2) hide the visible rivets of the Vararam-to-foglight housing and 3) block leaves/etc from entering the intake tracts.
I bought my (new) OEM Z06 screens on "that auction website" for $50 and installed them using industrial strength velcro. They've been on there for 3 years now without any issues!
Sorry, but I'm not personally convinced that I like the looks of ZO6 screens - SO . . . when I install my Vararam B2, I'm gonna experiment - (and I might end up using ZO6 screens, but not right away) - I want a subtle, black, inset honeycomb looking screen, that sets in a little - if you picture the front of a Pontiac Grand Prix - the grille - that's what I'm talking about -
I've found some donor grill out of a Dodge pickup grille that should work just fine, once it's painted black - then, I'm going to trim it to size, and panel bond / glue it into the opening of my Vararam - that's the plan anyway - see how it goes
Problem might be, that I understand that the ZO6 screens help hold the ZO6 bra onto the front of the bumper - and if I don't have the ZO6 screens, I'm wondering how to secure the bra in that location any thoughts??
I too was concerned about stuff flying into my intake... Not to mention i wasn't nuts about the "naked" VR-B2 look from the front. The Solution: Custom billet grilles in black powdercoat -
