Ive been reading all 5 or 600 posts on the clb, for the last 2 days. I have a 97 there has been quite a few probs with the clbs in the early c5s. There is no flash on the latest recall. Not on the a4 just mn 6. So is it possible you didnt read all there is on the subject. ...Im making this decision because if somthing goes wrong that the dealer did there responcable and there gonna fix it. If its a after market part and it takes a dump and you fry a computer along with the part guess what your out of luck and the dealers gonna love you then because hes making money on your stupidity.
So you think they're not reflashing eh? Not exactly...I called two dealers today and YEAH they're still reflashing and doing the fuel cut-off no matter what tranny you have
You think the dealer's gonna give a chit about the problems you're gonna have after they do the recall and they're gonna fix it?? GM cannot fix this issue plain and simple. I would think that after reading 600 posts on this that any logical person would come to that conclusion.
I have never seen nor heard of any instance where a CLB caused the PCM or BCM to take a dump. None...that's mostly laughable to think that it would.
The only stupidity I see is in those that continue to ignore this problem or take it to the dealers to "fix" it and actually think that it's gonna happen. NOT doing the recall and installing a CLB is the only way to avoid problems. Have a good one!!

You know what they say..."You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink."
The funny thing is he thinks he will be saving money by letting the dealership do the recall. Wait until he is stalled out in the middle of no where in the middle of the night and has to have his car towed (probably damaging the car even more). Then have the dealership claim it is a "new" problem and charge him a few more hundred dollars for a repair that won't last.
Seriously Slick Rick, you are in the perfect situation to use the CLB. I know many posters here would love to have NOT gone to the dealer for the recall and been able to install the CLB with out the reflashing. You can believe what you want about dealerships but one thing that has been proven over and over here is that they are terribly inconsistent in following recall procedures. I can assure you that I have no vested interest in the CLB and I am only trying to save you alot of aggravation and frustration. Again, good luck with whatever decision you make.
Why do people still go to the dealer for the recall after having read all the threads on this problem, and even complain about the price. CLB 50$ PROBLEM SOLVED.

Perhaps the dealers you talked to didnt have a clue. I watched as they did mine today. The kit on 4006c has been upgraded. Old part# 88952427 new pt#89023816 module is very close to the CLB. It was pretty simple process. Pulll fuse in pass floorboard. Pull the steering wheel remove lock plate put on cam orientation plate, plug in module, put wheel back on put all covers back on replace fuse in fuse box, hook up battery and turn the key. Done. No flash. I made my choice and so far so good. I just hope i dont have to eat crap later, Plus I dont really want to here all you CLB guys say I told you so..... Later Rick

can you forward me a copy of the recall notice. Thanks
You do not need a recall notice. Alls you have to do is go to the dealer and have them run your vin #. If it shows open on the recall they will do the recall free of charge or at least thats what they did for me.
