Default Z06 glass

anyone have any info regarding windshield thickness of the Z? someone on the forum awhile back made reference to the glass being thinner on the Z in a weight -saving maneuver by GM !i'm being told by my dealer(who's one of the top 100 shops according to Corvette Fever's latest list) that there's no difference in the Z's glass versus a coupe or vert.he claims to have spoken to 3 different people at GM,too! any help will be appreciated...thanks

4.8mm I believe. And yes they are different. Also, make sure it's the shaded HUD...

Tell him hes wrong. The windshield & rear glass are both thinner than all the other model Vettes. Door glass is the same.

No need to believe what a dealer tells you, look for yourself, its listed on the label on the passenger side of the windshield, 4.8 mm on the Z06, 6mm on the rest of the C5s. Hud is also listed if its 02 or newer, as the 01 didn't have hud.

That dealer is an idiot. contact Corvette Bob at Fitchner Chevrolet. He got me mine for 400 less than a dealer wanted. and yes a Z's windshield is 5.7lbs lighter than a coupes, but it is the same shield as a verts.

Another thing you want to be sure of, make sure you get an OEM replacement windshield. You don't want any leaks. The glass company that replaced mine told me that only put in correct windshields, they don't want to be repairing leaks for free. Z06 window with HUD costs about $900. Good thing I have $100 deductible.
