I just changed my tranny fluid with amsoil but when I drained the old fluid it was not red like the amsoil it was brownish red it that what the stock fluid looks like. Mine is a 2003 C5 mn6
I replaced my 1998 stock MN6 fluid with Mobil 1 at about 51,000 miles. This improved cold shifting. Ran that for about 51,000 miles, then shifting into sixth started to grind. I then changed to Amsoil ATD, it solved the sixth gear problem.
I hear that these transmissions are sensitive to dirty fluid, I don't understand why GM says no change is necessary?

Thanks
Looks like, and probably smells like you were a little past due for a fluid change. Trans fluid should be pinkish. I did mine a 50K miles. The factory stuff still looked pretty good; and I replaced it with the same. I'm sure Amsoil will be very good.

I don't understand this either. How could GM engineers who researched and designed the C5 and LS1 possibly know more than what we out here do through rumor? Hearsay has to trump their wisdom, knowledge and experience. What could GM possibly be thinking?
