:o I'm certainly no expert on this issue but I continue to read these horror stories and it makes me barf that GM continues to F**k this up

I'm one of the lucky ones...I installed a C5 Solutions CLB years ago when this issue first started showing up on the Forum. It's worked flawlessly in the C5s I've owned. I have an intense distaste for dealerships and threw all dozen or so recall notices in the trash. My car was/is working fine and I'm not about to let them touch it.

That being said the six-speed folks NEED the CLB to save them from the actuator/pin problems because the tranny won't lock like the A4 which has the locking plate removed as part of the recall. The BIG chit factor is the K-harness which can take a dump at any time and give faulty info, CLB or no CLB, thus kicking in the fuel-cutoff issue that was part of the PCM reflash in the recall. Recently there have been some folks stating that the dealers are no longer doing the fuel cut-off as part of the recall. I wouldn't completely believe that by any stretch. For giggles, I called the two stealerships here in Mobile TODAY and asked them...and YES the fuel cut-off is STILL being done as part of the recall. I don't know about the rest of the country but down here it's STILL column lock h*ll for those that are unaware.

If I had let them do the recall on my six-speed I would now install the CLB to get rid of the actuator/pin problem...pull the K-harness and plug the original back in...have the PCM reflashed to remove the fuel cut-off or I would have it removed via HPTuners package.

Here's another active CLB thread that discusses how to rid yourself of the fuel cut-off problem (it's near the end of the thread).

I'm am so g'dang glad that I didn't let them do the recall and stuck with my CLB.

Laurie,
The dealer will generally not back out a previous recall mod. You can and should install your CLB when you get it. Since you have a manual tranny and your '04 is relatively new, the secondary relay has already been installed in the passenger footwell by GM. If you experience any issues with your CLB, you'll probably need the secondary relay removed. I can help you with that. You'll still have the fuel cutoff program, but once your CLB is working properly it should not be an issue to worry about.
