So, lately I've been thinking about having some real fun in the vette..like getting into racing.
Where's a good place to start? What types of schools, races, are good to get into?
What can I expect from getting involved? What are the costs, risks, things to think about?
Not hoping to be a pro, just an amateur having fun as a hobby.
What type of racing? drag, auto cross. There are always risks of hitting something and insurance is void as soon as you are on the track. Costs would be repairs, tires, brakes, etc.
Check out www.corvettesnccc.org and click on your area. The Regional Competition Director will have a list of all Sanctioned events in your area. Check with local shops and dealerships to see if any club is hosting an event. They will have flyers at these places.
If you are interested in roadracing or auto-x I suggest you go to the roadracing/auto-x section on the forum. Lots of great info. Read the stickies.
There are a lot of good driving schools out there. One of the forum sponsors is Spring Mountain Driving School and they teach using the C5 and C6 vettes including the new C6 Z06. People who have gone there have been very happy.
