Default External Thermometer

I just picked my car up from the dealership after some work was performed. On the way home I noticed that my outside thermometer registered 101 and dropped down to only 99 on my 10 mile drive home. The current temperature here is about 90. I have never observed the thermometer not making adjustments as I drove from point a to point b. Is this normal behavior? Also, does anyone know where I can locate the sensor to ensure that it is in the proper location since the service was performed?

TIA

I believe its up under the right front of the area where air flows into the radiator. You will have to get down low and look up into the throat of the beast so to speak.

I got down low and looked down the throat and I couldn't find it. Any other suggestions?

On the 98-standing in front and facing the car, get down and look up the throat to the radiator. About an inch up on the passengers side of the car will be a small 1/4 dia plastic tip sticking out into the open area. That is your sensor unit and it has a plug behind it. You may have to remove a shroud to get to the plug-don't know never messed with it.

Ask and ye shall receive
I wouldn't call yours normal exactly. Mine constantly adjusts. I had to replace it a while back because the connector corroded. When you check yours be real careful when you pull it apart as the pins may pull out or break off. You have a fairly new Vette so that may not be a problem. At any rate if it's faulty your extended warranty, if you have one, should cover it....or just replace it yourself if need be.

Here's a pic of it's location..on the bottom passenger side of the shroud in the front corner. You can't miss it.

Here's you another view. You can remove it from the top by raising the hood and reach down and pull the plastic pin out of the mount. There's enough slack to pull it up to disconnect. You can buy a sensor from GM for around 10 bucks, but check your connections first.

Looks like it "somehow" got ziptied to the down tube... I can't quite see it, but I feel something that resembles that shape when I follow that lead down the tube. There also is not a bracket located where the picture indicates and there are two holes one with a plastic screw and one empty.

Guess it's another trip back...

I had a similiar problem and just made sure the connection was fine and ensured the sensor itself was not dirty.
