Default LS 7 Clutch

Who has the best prices on the LS7 clutch? I heard GM Parts had the clutch and flywheel for about $400. Is this the best price? Thanks Brian

If you do any launches, you probably ought to cross the LS7 clutch off the candidate list. It glazes at any launch above 3600.

What clutch would you recommend? I have LT headers intake and tune. I what a clutch that will handle more for a head and cam. I do some drag racing.

It seems that the LS7 clutch works better in the c5's than in the c6 zo6. Why is that?

With your requirements, I'd look at the Cartek Level-7.

I've read posts by a couple C5 owners extolling the virtues of the LS7 clutch and others hating that clutch. And most C6Z owners who do launches hate the clutch, including me. So it's a good idea to do your own due-diligence.

I'm at 430rwhp/390ish rwtq, and I have a ls7 clutch in a C5Z06. I do not drag race, only road race. Last year Pocono-2/WGI-2, so far this year Limerock 1 day and WGI 2days. I run the rpms up to almost redline in 3rd before hitting fourth, I down shift hard with a double blip. So far this clutch has performed flawlessly. The clutch has about 12-14k street miles on it. I do change out the fluid as per Rangers recomendation, but I do not drag race and cannot comment on how it performs in that arena.

Our Cartek Level 7 clutch is rated for 700 rwhp/ 700 rwtq. If you plan on drag racing then this would be the better option over the stock LS7 setup.

Shoot me a PM if you have any questions.

different stresses on the clutch between road racing and drag racing. Drag racing is a lot more abusive to a clutch

I have the LS7 set up with long tubes, intake and tuning, I installed the LS7 clutch last fall and went to the track 2 times, hot lapped it back to back, slip clutch launches around 4K with drag radials, never glazed never slipped not even a hint of stink from it... no soft pedal issues either, consistent low 1.7x 60' times (need a little more seat time before the 1.6x's come )

I know Ranger hates this clutch and he is very well respected here and offers priceless advice to many on this forum but I can tell you first hand that my experience with this clutch has been fantastic thus far.

Good Luck in whatever decision you decide to go with

Cheers
