Sputters and backfires
I am gettin a preignitionor sputterwhen under heavy load.
Pretty recent tune up and no codes or check engine lights.
It loads up when passin but if I let off pedal just a bit it stops and drives just fine....
Any ideas let me know
-plugs
-wires
-new coils packs
-oil
-filter
the sputtering was minor but recently it is gettin worse.
If I am in a low gearwith medium to high rpms comin to a light and then I get on it to get ahead of traffic and merge over that is when it sputters the most

Are you having the same kind of symptoms? This has been my probem for the last 6 months, it's driving me fking nuts! I am pissed! I changed so many parts already, it is just crazy. The car runs pretty load but when it is under load, it backfires and runs like crap, and if I release the gas pedal just a little bit, it keeps accelerating fine. When you read the thread, look at what has been checked and if you did not do it yet, d it, who knows your issue might be in my list.
I was told to check the MAP sesor (behind the intake) as it regulates LOAD, but it works fine.
Tomorrow I am schedule to have a LS2 ported TB/Intake combo as I have been told that a faulty TB might be causing this.

They are other members having similar issues (Muncie21, Dope, you and myself) and it's been for several months, no one could resolve it yet. Please keep us posted and if you have anything to add that could hemp me as well, let me know.

I hope the TB will be the issue. As for the PCM, they are sources were we can get it for a few hundred bucks!
If anyone needs a PCM, contact Gene at gmpartshouse.com
for zleehw
PCM for $159, this is the link to the price on www.gmpartshouse.com
I was having a high RPM/under load misfire that did not activate the MIL, and it was a plug wire partially off a coil pack. Clicking it on cured the problem. We actually caught it on the dyno...
This would happen when trying to accelerate in 6th gear or if I down shifted and goosed it in third/or fourth. Almost thought my expensive clutch was slipping...
I have seen similar results on the F-Body LS1s with a loose plug wire. Might just be the cheapest/easiest solution; at least I hope it is!
Good luck!
