It happened, I'm 500 miles from home and the car is now at dealership. It appears the recall has been done on my 2000 A4. The dealer is telling me all kinds of tales and narurally I'm skeptical. Assuming I get the car back home I would like some guidance in what steps to take
It's a A4 {2000}
Recall has been done according to dealer {Crest Chevrolet in Jacksonville Fl.}
Here's the question. When I get home and start to put in a CLB kit do I need to have the recall removed, and if so can somneone give me the procedure to do so?
Thanks guys.
I'm sure this has been answered somewhere here on CF, but there are so many threads on this subject I haven't been able to determine which direction to go.
If you install the CLB you will not have to remove the recall because it is a reflash of the computer. Follow the instructions to the CLB to the letter. You shouldn't have anymore problems. There's a ton of people on the forum that have done this and might chime in too! Good luck!
Thanks, there is so much to absorb on this subject in the stcky that I was trying to get my uestion into a easier to understand format.
I think what I'm reading here is that
1. Get a CLB ASAP
2. I may still have a fuel shot off problem even if I install CLB
3. get a Optima battery {for several reasons}
4. Try to get home withiut spending $$$$ on towing and dealership errors.

1. YES, ASAP!
2. I'm not familiar with that problem???
3. Optima is a good battery...
4. YES, YES, YES! (You should have towing coverage included on your car insurance.)

As part of the recall they reflash the computer to cut the fuel if it detects a problem with the steering lock, whether real or perceived.
The ideal situation (if there is one) would be to install the CLB without any recalls being performed. The dealers will not undue the fuel cut off program as it is GM's way of covering their ***.
