Traction/active handling learn from my mistake....
On a 600 mile trip all was well....The active handling came on , i thought well, it is an 01 and i have had no problems with it to date, so i guess something was due....Drove on for 45 minutes and a guy passed me and pointed at my wheel..Was near an exit , got off and there it was , flat tire....Inflated it....HUGE bubbles coming out of the side walls.....So drive to a gas station and make calls for a tire.. To make a long story short, no one had one, put a Toyo tire on [front] and drove home....Moral, if the ac/tr control comes on PULL OVER and inspect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let me see if I understand this. You were driving the car with a flat tire - and someone else had to tell you that????? Sell the car before you hurt yourself.

He probably meant a low tire ....
I once had a 20 y.o. girl drive past me @ 35 MPH with both rear tires squealing, smoking, and locked. I quickly finished fueling and took out after her. Caught up with her about a mile down the road and flagged her over.
I walk up to her window and asked if she realized she had a locked rear axle. Noooooo .... she had no idea anything was wrong. I looked in at her center console ... and she had the parking brakes maximally engaged.
I'm not a professional by a long long way and it feels wrong if I have a tire that is even a few pounds off of air pressure... How in the world could you be on a FLAT tire for that long and not know it??

Always a smart AZZ in the crowd...I might be off on the times driven, we where experiencing side winds that day up to 45mph+ so it was a bit hard to decipher a very low tire..And, the side walls are very strong in the SC tire, thus, you are able to drive a long way on a very low tire under some circumstances.....

I've got 19's on my Z and about a month ago I drove about 20 miles on a tire that only had about 5psi in it. I didnt realize due to the handling of the car, honestly it didnt really feel funny at all. Now, keep in mind I was just cruizing down the highway and a few back roads. Not driving like a maniac, like I sometimes do.. Anyway, I only knew something was up becuase the front air dam was scrapping a lot more than normal on driveways, parking lots, etc....
The tire is a 295/35/19 and the low profile sidewall really disquises the flat tire under normal driving conditions..

Thanks..For the other smart Azz's who think i should sell, do some research and learn..

Wow! that was harsh. Funny but Harsh. Glad the poster was not hurt. One of the reasons I installed tire pressure sensors on my 02Z. Don

Funny was the goal. Glad you enjoyed it anyway. I can tell you when one or more of my tires is down even a few pounds - if I couldn't, and for example, I found out this way that I wasn't able to detect a tire had gone down completely, I would seriously be considering tire pressure sensors or something as that is a very dangerous circumstance.
Listen, we all know the golden rule. You're supposed to check your tire pressure every time you drive your car, especially on a performance car (one that you might forget to take your foot off the gas and all of a sudden your doing 130 down the highway) Thats a joke.... But seriously, for you guys who say you can feel a few psi of difference in 1 particular tire, you must be a god of auto enthusiasts. I roadrace motorcycles, run my cars at the 1/4 (all rather competively) and I have to rely on a good old tire guage to make sure my psi is where it should be.
This roots back to what I originally posted, tires with a very low side profile can be and are hard to tell when the pressure is low, the rigidness and strength of the tire disquises the low pressure. (thats why most of these cars come with tire monitoring devices from the manufacturer)

Or trying to make us think your gods.... I heard that twilight once ran over a pebble in a road race. The pebble threw the tire out of balance by 1/1000 of an ounce ... but he felt it. He pulled over knowing exactly where to stop so the pebble was on top of the tire. He removed the pebble just as the all of the other cars were about to pass. He jumped back in and while rebuckling himself in proceeded to pass all of the other cars due to the perfect balance of his tires. He passed the last car just as he crossed the checkered flag..... Go twilight racer go.
It is sad when someone tries to give us the benefit of thier experience and a blow hard takes it as an opportunity to further inflate his ego by telling us that he would never make such a rookie mistake.

Oh whatever guy. It's not hard at all to tell when a tire is going down- even those idiots going round and round in circles manage to figure it out. If you can't, you can't. But the fact that some of us can doesn't make us Gods or "blow hards." You need to get a grip. Tire pressure sensors are readily available if you need them to assist you, and this thread is a fine example of why they make them. As for feeling a few PSI, if you take 5 PSI out of the F1s there is a notable handling difference - and the hard sidewall does nothing to mask it.
EDIT: To any of you who don't think you can tell the difference. Get an accurate bump gauge and head to a parking lot. Take 5 PSI out of one of your front tires and head out onto the road. Use caution or just don't do it at all if you're certain you cannot handle it - if you cannot feel the wheel pulling toward the side you took the 5 PSI from, then just let go of it for a second, you'll notice your car starts pulling that way. The rolling resistance is increased by the increase in the contact patch due to improper inflation.
