Default gaskets? taking things apart

I need to remove the intake to replace the oil sender, will I need to buy new gaskets?

Also think a noise is comming from the valve train. I would like to remove the valve cover, will I need gaskets here?

All those areas are sealed by O-rings. Unless something is damaged during removal, which would be very rare, there is no need to replace them.

I read on the 01 oil burners the dealer wants to reseal the intake before owning up to the rings being the problem.

any idea what they do?

I claim on that one. I don't see how resealing the intake would have any bearing on whether or not it burns oil. Next they will want to reseal the TB before accepting the fact that the '01's are oil burners and need to be reringed.

Read the TSB. You can see the valley seal leakage information. It's a fairly common with all LS6 engines. A friend has a catch can on 2004 Z06 that will trap a quart of oil in short order. Yes, it's burning oil, but it's not getting past the rings.

Ok but, the valley cover and the intake manifold are two completely different parts. The post stated that they wanted to reseal the intake not the valley cover. Also the catch can traps oil from a different source. That also does not address the piston rings.
