Hi all, I’ve been a member for a very short time (new), but this is my first post to say hi. I recently purchased a 2003 coupe and love it!
One question I have is: Does anyone know where I can get the **** that attaches to the Heads-Up Display dimmer slider? For some reason I can only find the entire dimmer unit for around $125. But, I only need the **** - Any ideas?
As for my first mod - I really like music and was not happy with the stock Bose system. I had been reading a number of posts on here and finally decided on replacing the head unit with a Blue Tooth enabled Pioneer DEH-P790BT with the GEX-P920XM add-on, the CD-UB100 USB adapter and the iPod iBus adapter (adapters mounted in the glove box). I also added a JL Audio StealthBox with a JL 10W3v2-D2 Sub, connected to a JL 250/1 monoblock sub amp. At first I had planned to keep the factory Bose speakers. However, the imaging was to the rear and the high frequencies were definitely lacking (fell flat above 8000Hz). So, I changed it a bit, having speaker mounts fabricated for the doors and pulling the Bose speakers, replacing them with JL XR series up front and JL VR series in the rear. I then replaced the amp with a JL 300/4 connected to the front speakers and bridged for the sub. The rear speakers are connected to the stock Bose amps. This setup is simply awesome and louder than I can handle with perfect center imaging along with clear sound across the entire frequency range (at any volume). Overall, I am delighted with this setup and have to say it's one of the best systems I've heard compared to many other car stereo systems I've heard. Plus, it's all hidden and easy to revert back to stock. The only component visible is the amp (black), mounted in the rear. Even the JL carpeting on the StealthBox matches to black carpeting in the car. Now, I just need to stop my gas cap door from vibrating
Anyway, I just wanted to add that after reading many posts on here about sound systems. Many gave me ideas and a few let me know what not to try. I am not sure I ran across this particular setup in the forums, but would recommend it.
Anyway, if anyone can help me find that **** for the dimmer, I would be grateful!
Many Happy Miles… Thanks!
