New Bling just arrived!

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
On Thursday, my friend Scott hooked me up by mounting our new Factory Reproductions C6 Z06 style chromies from Corvettes of Houston on the new C5 Z06 size Michelin PS2 rubber from Tire Rack.
Our powdercoated calipers were scheduled for delivery on Friday from the brown truck guy, but we couldn't wait to get the wheels and tires on. They fit PERFECTLY! What a difference going to the Z06 size wheels and tires on our coupe! Saaaweet!
On Saturday morning my wife Jandy ("Janster" on here) and I got started at about 10am on the brake project. My nephew Matt ("Yelofevr" on here) came over for moral support.
My parents even came over to watch.
We started with the front brakes first. Everything went super easy with the removal of all the old brake components. Only one bracket bolt needed additional persuasion from the breaker bar. The new calipers look awesome! Thanks to Mike the Powdercoater! Here's a picture of the installed goodies on the right front, consisting of Mikes torch red calipers with black brackets, Sportbrakes slotted rotors, and AC Delco ceramic pads from Gene Culley at GMPartshouse.com:

The rears went the same as the fronts. No issues with removal of any of the old stuff. If the rotor sticks, just whack it between the studs with a ball peen hammer to break the rust. They came right off with little effort. (Don't forget to take the ebrake off
)No pics of the rears, since I initially installed the lefts on the right, and vice versa... oops! The bleeding of the brakes went pretty well, although on initial test drive, the brakes felt a bit mushy. Back to the garage for a "rebleed". This time, I tapped the calipers with a rubber mallet during my bleeding procedure to dislodge any small air bubbles that might have been trapped in the calipers. This proved to be the ticket, as I saw a nice size bubble in the bleeding tube from the right rear, and one in the right front.
Today's brake 'break-in' process went off without a hitch, and the brakes are great! I'm very pleased with the final results.
Here's are two shots of the finished mod:

I'm much happier now - especially - knowing that we're driving on nice new rubber and good brakes. The old stuff was shot.....
Steve discovered some hairline cracks in the LF rotor and the pads had less than 1/8" of material left. Majority of the maintenance has been completed - just a coolant job yet. Some much needed TLC and she's ready for the summer!!
