Front plate laws. Which states DON'T require them.
I heard from an un-reliable source that Texas just amended their front plate law to exclude cars that came from the factory without a plate or that came with a filler plate.
question 1: is there any validity to this?
question 2: which states don't require front plates?
California DOES require them. However, I don't think I've ever seen a C5 with a front plate in CA. Everyone just ignores the law. But not me, of course.
Well, California definitely requires a plate in the front.
However, fortunately for me, I haven't been stopped yet. In fact, last summer, there was a Corvette car show in my area (Southern California) with sponsorship from the local police department and when they were at the event (in great numbers), the only tickets I saw given out were for parking despite the majority of corvettes attending (like mine) did not have the front plate.
Wisconsin requires you to display a front and rear license plate for all passenger car and trucks! It doesn't matter if you have a filler plate or not, if the State issues you two plates you must display them both!

But thats because you have so much Chrome on your Vette the cop probably doesn't notice the front plate. Hmmmmm? Good idea, actually.

Michigan does not. I never could understand the point of it, unless the digits were in reverse so they could be read from the inside of a vehicle in front of you.

Thats a good point
I cant see them going to the expense of issuing you two plates (as NY does) if you were only required to display one. So if you have two plates for the car (and you didnt have to special order one), I guess you have your answer
california does require a front plate but i have been running without one for almost 2 years without any issues. Here in cali you only get in trouble if your driving a honda.
