Default Do number on tires matter?

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=35

Does it matter if my tires come with #91 instead of the #99 (OEM accepted)

Thanks.

It should not matter as long as all four load ratings added together equal or exceed the weight of your car and cargo.

Be very careful puting tires with lower load ratings on your car than what the car came with from the factory.

You might have problems with your insurance company paying for accident damage, if they check and find you don't have the proper tires on your car.

I doubt that GM or any other company would spend an extra $.05 for a higher load rating than they could get away with.

I just did some additional research and all of the tires in stock sizes but one on Tire Rack had the 99 rating !

Are you going to a different (smaller size) tire or a different speed rating? If yes to either of these, I would not approve.

For stock C5 wheels I'm considering the following tires (Kumho MX's, Wideovals, or something else under $600/set) Sizes: 255-40-17 (instead of stock 245-45-17). Rears: 285-35-18 (instead of stock 275-40-18).

How does that sound? Anyone done that? (Just trying to add a lil width here)

There needs to be at least 0.5 inches difference between the front and rear (rear larger) for the active handling and traction control systems to work properly. Stock has 1 inch difference. Tire Rack should have height of theses tires.
