I was a valet in college near Dallas. One time Roy Williams (of the Cowboys) pulled in, in an Aston Martin Vanquish. The other valet handled it...this guy wasn't too bright...on those cars...you close the door to about 6 inches from the body..and the door will then automatically close itself so you dont have to slam it. The valet goes to close it once Roy got in....he slams it so hard it bounced back off the body...he caught it...thinking he messed up somehow actually tries to slam it again! He catches it for the second time and Mr. Williams has this "OMFG" look on his face. The valet just stares blankly after realizing he F'ed up and says "I'm so sorry". Mr. Williams...didn't leave a tip.
Now we know what those valet folks do when they're alone with our Vettes...
You know you shocked the pants off that kid by not getting mad and letting him know you knew what he did. That was great!
You dont know the half of it. I use to valet at Universal several years ago, and lets just say I will never valet my car due to karma. I never wrecked any cars but I do know what goes on with high performace cars in valet.
The last time I used a valet was in high school at my Junior Prom (30+ years ago). When I came to get the car back, I handed the valet the ticket, and he went to get the car. As he pulled up, he brought the care to a stop by throwing it into Park. That's the last time I ever used a valet. On the few occasions that I had no choice but to use the valet service, I paid them as generous tip to let me park it. As much as I hate to do this, it has worked and it beats the alternative.
then i said " next time u take out a vette....try to go faster then 46"...lol......he looked shocked .. i just then drove off......thought i would share.....[/QUOTE]
Hey that was pretty nice of ya not to get him in trouble Im sure next time you,ll get more respect from him.
I NEVER let a valet even look at the vette. I parked cars as a kid, and I KNOW what goes on. I park it, and the keys go with ME. No discussion. If I get that look from them, I'll give them a tip to watch it for me though.
I paid off a valet once last year to let me park it then he says "well after you park it can we have the keys in case we need to move it?" I was like... thats the whole point. Needless to say I parked where I wanted and the keys stayed with me.
haha funny story. I actually work as a valet at a high-end hotel and it's just the luck of the draw with who you get to park your car. Since i drive a Z06 and have no temptation, you'd want me parking your car.
But i find it really funny when people with their BMW's come in and warn me how powerful their 3-series beemer is.
My buddies are Valet's and they always tell me which guys to go to and let drive my car. It's really only the new guys that really screw around with cars. The guys that have worked there a bit have already driven something nicer so they don't really care.

you let him off easy, especially with the proof . I'd rather park a 1/4 mile away than let valet get my keys
