Ebay is your source for 98 pace cars. They are on there all the time. That's how I got mine. There is a couple very low mileage ones on there now but those can range from mid 30's to mid 40's. Be at least prepared to pay around $30,000 for a 15,000 mile to 25,000 mile car.
Would $25K be a good price for one with less than 30K miles? It's an auto.
How can I tell if it's an authentic PC or a replica? Will the VIN tell me?
The VIN won't tell you - but you should be able to check the options on the Service Parts ID tag on the backside of the left storage cover - look for option Z4Z. The VIN on the tag should match the VIN in the windshield.

the VIN will tell you the pace car number.
it can be looked up here: http://users.rcn.com/wwolfeii/98pcreg//98msp.html
under the "98 Production" tab at the bottom, use the last six digits of the VIN.
all '98 Pace Cars are replicas, and "track cars" that were used at the event were later sold to the public, but they all are the same with the only option being manual or MN6 manual trans, and of course export or domestic....

Thanks. The VIN provided by the seller matches one of the VIN's listed.
