I have had this 02 Z06 for 2 weeks. Sitting at the drive through of Krystal, it did not want to go into 1st, then did not want to go in reverse. I got it in 2nd and limped to a gas station. it is making alot of noise and wants to move forward when it is out of gear. Sound like a clutch or tranny problem? Only 40,000 miles on the car.
Thanks. I read Rangers post and will certainly change the fluid. I checked it and it is black. I just had it towed to a friends shop to get it in the air and take a look. I love the car, but this is not a good sign to me.
wants to move forward in neutral? You have trany problems. Clutch is the link between the motor and the trans and would be out of play in neutral(out of gear). Make sure someone didn't put the wrong fluid in such as gear oil, this trans takes automatic trans fluid even though it is a manual trans. good luck.
If the fluid was black then most likely it's been that way for most of those 40k, as most people are not aware of the fluid issues.
If you are hearing a "rattling" sound from the rear right after clutch is out and your rolling, especially in 1st and 2nd..............this may be syncro issues, this was the case with a friend of mines tranny.............this type of damage can be atributed to the fluid problems causing issues with everything else down the line.
After getting it up in the air, The gears change smoothly. Now it sounds like it could be the rear end. Anyway, the trans. has to come out. Anyone with some ideas?
