Several weeks ago I asked fellow forum members about JBA headers for the z06. Got several replies so I wanted to report on my expierence. Installed last week and could feel a difference. Not 30 HP but still not bad for shorty headers. I weighed the stock manifolds and saw about 20 pounds each. The shipping weight on the box the shortys came in was 25 pounds including a rather large box. So saving weight was a bonus. I may have a tune done as well but even without I was pleased with the results. So don't be to quick to discount shortys they do add power just not as much as the long tubes.
Did you get a baseline dyno? I'd like to see proven before and after dyno tests for shorty headers. If I could get at least 10rwhp from them, I might consider getting some.
I talked with the tech guys at JBA and they said you could count on at least 10 with out a tune and as much as 25 with tune. My car has Indy cat back, vortex cold air, and superchips hand held programmer. (03 Z06). On the first shift from 1st-2nd I knew I had more power and better throttle response. Can pull away from stop in third gear and overall more power. But to answer your question no I did not have a baseline no real proof as far as numbers go. Tech guys at JBA say they have f bodies running their shortys and head cam pkg. and putting down 430 at the wheels all smog legal. I am impressed with their product.
Ive always contended that a pair of shorties...used shorties were worth the money spent..Im not so sure on buying a new set...a litttle low on th e $$ spent/gain ratio..but used..great bargin

Yeah that is true best to find a used set and I would stay with JBA or B & B. Heard good things about both of these.
Cool thanks for the input, I have a set of JBA headers and a magnaflow X pipe in the garage waiting to be installed, once installed I think a tune would be next
I installed a Corsa Indy cat-back last weekend, and along with the Magnaflow X-pipe I installed a couple of years ago, the shorties will be next on the list for exhaust. Here in the land of the smog-police, we're relegated to shorties unless we want to endure header swaps every couple of years. Sounds like a reasonable investment if one can find a good used set!
They made a difference on my car,I could spin second from a dead stop without dumping the clutch ,just by rolling into the throttle. My dyno #s seem pretty much in line with a lot of the LT guys.Plus with my exhaust combo I get a lot of people tell me it's one of the best sounding cars they've ever heard.

What do you have on your car. Adding the headers changed the tone on my car. Now has a deeper sound than before.Which I kinda like.
With just shorties/stock cats, CAI and a tune it had 367RWHP 366TQ,After pulley, catless mids,1.8s, and ported intake it went 384HP 382TQ on a different DYNO that usually reads about 10 or so lower than the first. I know its not a vette but the LS2 GTOs usually dyno's about the same as ZO6's with in 5-10hp.I'm going to put on a ported TB and re-dyno at the first place to see how much diff. there is but if it is 10hp and I get 5 or so from the TB then I'd say that 390-400RWHP/TQ from a bolt on LS2 thru shorties proves that they have to be making some difference, maybe not LT #s but better than most would seem to think.
