Default Help with fuel rail decals/inserts Please!!!

I have base coated and clear coated my fuel rail covers and wanted to put the mirror finish (chrome) decals on but I'm not having much luck and could really use some help. What I wanted were the type that Zip Corvette sells that go in between the stripes and around the 5.7. I ordered the ones from Zip but they come with the decal attached to thin clear plastic that stays attached once installed. I would like to have these but without the plastic over the decal. Does anyone have any experience installing these inserts from Zip? Does the clear plastic that the decal is attached to have to stay or is there some way to remove it after using it to guide the decals in place? The clear plastic I am talking about is about 1/16" to 1/8' thick. I sure could use some input from anyone that has the inserts from Zip and a close up pic of them installed would be great!

Yes I am! Do yours have the plastic over the decals? If so do the CORVETTE inserts at the top stick out above the cover? It's ironic but what you have is exactly what I would like, my covers are even black! Could I clear coat over these after they are installed? Thanks for the input!

Yes they came with a plastic cover, the plastic is used to protect the letters. I removed the plastic.

On the ones I had from Zip it didn't appear that the plastic (1/16" or so thick) could be seperated from the actual decal. Did I miss something? I called Zip and the guy I talked to said the plastic could not be removed so I sent them back. They were really nice about it and were great to deal with.

I tried just the decals from the auction site and they didn't fit my covers very well and I ended up ruining a couple of the letters trying to install them so $38 bucks down the drain there! So I want to be real sure before I order the Zip ones again! Those guy's are going to think I'm nuts!

I'm not talking about the thin layer of protective plastic I'm talking about the thicker clear plastic that the decals are attached to. Does that come off?
