Default turn signal replacement

Just bought my 98 C5, and need to replace the front approach/turn signal bulb. How do you get to it? My 88 convert. is a cinch, but the 98 is giving me fits! Manual says to remove the front facia close out, so where is the front close out anyway? I need some help FAST. You can't drive around looking like a cyclops! https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ilies/eek6.gif

There is a plastic shroud around the headlight that you will have to remove when you pop up the headlights...3 screws holding it in.

If you just need to replace the bulb, you will be able to look right down through the opening created by removing the shroud and see where the socket is turned into the housing.

you don't have to do the headlight method.

i been having this prob. and i drove cyclops style for about 4 months.

what you do is jack the car up in front, (or on the side of the bad bulb), then get under the bumper and on the edge you will see a panel that you can unbolt. they are small 10mm screws i believe.

so take that panel off, reach your hand up and unscrew the bulb housing from the socket. but be careful ebcause there is a tab on the bulb housing that you need to push in before you can unscrew it out.

I hope you can understand my directions. if not, feel free to ask more questions.

good luck.

Ok,
now the 3rd way is to reach in thru the brake duct opening, push the flexible ducting out of the way and reach in an remove the socket as per the previous post....
In both the first method and this one it helps to have long slim arms....
The second is for guys named Popeye.....

i'm doing the same procedure tomorrow, I'll be going up from the bottom. Going in fom the top of the brake duct only works if you have small hands/arms.

When I did this I was thinking to myself "what was wrong with attaching the lens to the lamp body with a couple of phillips head screws?"

Thanks for the help guys. Did some looking around the front end last night. Removed the brake duct grill and went in through there. You were all right about the popeye thing. Luckily, I have small hands and the "popeyes" don't start until after my wrists. Got her changed out in about five minutes. Wasn't hard at all. The PITA was getting the duct grill back on. Gotta love this forum!

The Stealership...Mark Heitz in Norman OK did the job for me for $35.00! I brought my own long life bulbs from O'Reily's - $ 3.59 for the pair! Way better than hanging your hand up in a place it shouldn't go!

$35.00 plus the gas to get there and back + the wait time??!!!

screw that. it takes literally 5-10 min. max to do depending on which method you use.

Also, I did the headlight method. It should be noted that this is actually easy but no one ever said that it doesn't pull straight out like the horizontally, its vertacally in there, well that might have been apparant to most of you in like all of 2 seconds..not me, it took me a LONG time (30 mins) to realize that. I got it out though and back in there, no problem. Next time I think I will do it with the front brake duct push-down method b/c taking that bezel off too much makes me scared of scratching the paint on my bumper. Man was that tough to get back on!

You need to remove the body from the car.

OK someone on this forum gave me this so i'm not taking credit. open the hood raise the headlights. The remove the height adjusting bolt. The long bolt with a black rubber bumper. Mark the threads somehow so you can get it back in the right place.

Now i'm not bragging, but i have big forearms, and this still worked. Now you have room to reach down and unlatch the signal housing. I did push it out the air duct housing hole to change the bulb. Put some dielectric (sp?) grease in the socket to keep water out. It takes a little practice but once you know how to do it, it takes about 5 min. to change a bulb. Thanks to whoever figured this one out.
