C5 Rear Wing / Spoiler

I am looking for a spoiler for my 99 C5. I want one of those types that are no more then a small lip. These are described as no hardware installation. Essentially, 3M tape of some sort. Are these types of rear spoiler installations any good? I mean do they stay stuck on the car?

just click on New thread, then add a topic line, and a little in the body to ask what you want

OK... let me get dressed here....
there we go. Now...
I can understand the attraction for a rear wing. I cannot lie, I kind of like some models of C5 wings myself, and can imagine them sitting on the back of my vette, but....
the scientific side of my brain always seems to take over. Where the models that DO satisfy the esthetic side of my brain are concerned, I start asking myself questions like, "Will you ever go fast enough to really need rear end down force?". No. "Will it aid in any practical purpose, say, cleaning up the aerodynamic eddy that the large C5 rear end can generate at highway speeds?". No. Well then, the esthetic reasons go right out the window for me. In my eyes, esthetics are fine, if the car is sitting in the driveway, or at a car show, but if they start to check boxes in the minus column at speed, then there's no place for them on my C5. Case in point;
The Gulfstream G500. What a beauty! Looks just as fast just sitting on a tarmac. Check the lines, even the oval shape of the windows. The windows didn't have to be oval, but the fact that they are simply lends more to the impression of forward direction, and speed. Every single part and line work in unison here towards a common goal; get you where you want to go at maximum efficiency and speed. It's smashing good looks are just the cherry on the sundae. But I digress.
Where the C5 is concerned, I've yet to come across a rear wing design that furfills the "engineering" side of my brain where the every day driver is concerned. Yeah, some look great, but if they're not actually doing something more beneficial (other than make some cheese eating teenager drool), then it's out for me.
Maybe I'm just a "less is more" kinda guy. Who knows.
One thing I DO find interesting are vortex generators. But, they're just not very... sexy?, looking on the clean lines of a C5. There's probably a ton of wind tunnel data out there pointing towards eddy and drag reduction, but then again, for the amount of performance available, the C5 is no slouch in the fuel economy game straight out of the box. Besides, if I was going to be uptight about fuel economy, I'd be driving a Prius instead.
At the end of the day, my little 'ole C5's tail shall remain featherless. At least until some wing comes along that can satisfy both sides of my brain.

For me, I am only interested in the cosmetic aero enhancement aspect in the wing. That is why the small lip type spoiler is more appealing to me than is some kind of F1 down force feature.

Just a suggestion. this thread is 10 years old... with the last post 6 years ago... you would be better off starting your own thread rather than a old thread with 3 pages of old post..
just click on New thread, then add a topic line, and a little in the body to ask what you want

If more pics of rear spoilers are needed, please start a new thread rather than bringing back one that is multiple years old.
