Default Door adjustment

Just wondering how you adjust the latch and the striker plate to line up better. It seems as if mine is off a little. When I close it you can hear a clunk. And if I do it slow you can hear the metal hitting.

You can adjust the striker and if memory serves, it can go in/out, up/down and even a depth adjustment via the shims. If that doesn't work for you or if the door gaps aren't even, then it sounds like your door has been off before.

Another adjustment is in the slots as the door bolts to the hinges and the hinges bolt to the car. If you choose to try and adjust the door mounting, get a friend to help. A really good trick another forum member shared with me was to put a wooden paint stick under the front of the door so if it drops a little, you won't scratch or chip the lower edge. I taped a paint stick in place and it really helped me on the 1st door removal as the door did slip and the front lower edge of the door hit the paint stick on the jamb.

Good luck!
