I have a couple of questions for anyone who might have a vertical door kit installed on thier C5.
1) Did you have to cut off the lip at the front edge of the door to allow the door to swing out before swinging up?
2)What would the force rating of the shock support need to be? I don't want the door to jump out of my hand. The support sent with the kit was 850lbs of force. Too much. I bought 550lbs supports and they were too much. Neither would compress at all. This is a single support set up.
I'm not sure what kit you bought-I have the LSD and they are specific to the make and model but the door lip did have to be shaved along with the middle of the inside fender to make room for the shocks. The LSD's are very well balanced when you open the door they open like stock until you get to a certain point and then they raise with no effort. You may want to contact LSD to find out the ratings of their units.
I have the vetical door kit, it required a LOT of cutting to the door edge and also the fenders, this is not a kit I would suggest, if I was doing it all over again, I would have gone with the LSD kit, when I did mine, I didn't know about this kit (18 months ago)
