My first Vette was an 82 Collector Edition that I paid $13,500 for in 1996. Thought it was a little high at the time but I loved that car so it was worth it.
It may just be me, but it seems like Vette prices are rising about with inflation. It will still be a while before a base Vette is $100,000.

I paid 18K for my c5 when i was 17... and it is my first vette. My dad on the other hand has owned 5 or 6 and his first was a 66' big block that he bought from an old couple who's son had purchased it brand new with his enlistment money then got stationed in germany. My dad(being only 18) told them that he had 1700 saved and was going to buy one once he had enough. They went in called their son and he told them he had forgot he even had it and they should sell it and come visit him in germany.So my dad got his first vette for 1700 bucks.
