Default Hood liner trouble

My car sits outside all of the time, and I live near the coast / ocean. Can the salt air and moisture from misuse of a Corvette ( not driving it enough) have caused this? When I bought the car last August only one corner seemed to be shrinking between two clips and material had started to come loose, now look at it. Has anyone else had this experience? I recently seen that someone had the under hood finished, I wonder if I should go that route so I do not waste money on a new one. The car has 30,000 on it.

Same issue here as many do (lots of threads on here about the hood liner). I took mine off, used spray adhesive to fix the dog ears, and then rattle canned it with flat black paint. It still looks like crap but far better than it did before.
