One of the best runflats made that are rated for all season use is the Michelin. It's also the only other extended mobility tire that can be repaired according to the manufacturer.

Here's an article that might be an interesting read.....

Have Michelin Pilot Sports on both C4 and C5. Great tires, quiet, very happy with them, would buy again.

Me, too

Michelin run flats, no doubt! I got them from my CADILLAC dealership and they actually BEAT Costco's price! No problems with tp sensors and they even washed my 01 Vette and cleaned the wheels! Love these guys!

Oh, by they way the tires were great too! WAY better than the Goodyears run flats they replaced. good luck!

Torn between the Michelin Pilot Sport AS ZP and the KUMHO Ecsta ASX and possibly KUMHO Ecsta MX Run Flat.
This is my wifes daily driver and we are in Oklahoma. The KUMHO MX said not for near freezing temps and we are gonna have those!
Could sure use some input on this. Thanks!
You might want to look into Kumho ASX withch are M&S rated. If it is going to be a daily driver, I would look at treadwear & trac rating.

Mich Pilot AS ZP have a 400 TW & AA A Trac rating so they should last a while.

Kumho ASX have a 420 TW & AA A trac rating........better for milage....

Kumho MX runflat have 220 TW &AA A trac rating......Nowt good milage...

If no one has ever explained TW & TR to you ,here you go.

Treadwear (TW) trac rating (TR) is a combination of how "hard" the rubber compound is vs. how it will keep traction on a skid pad under wet conditions.
TW test are done for 7200 mile with alignment & air pressure checked & fixed every 800 miles. A grade of 100 would indicate that the tire tread would last as long as the test tire, 200 would indicate the tread would last twice as long, 300 would indicate three times as long, etc.

With that in mind........most of those high dollar tires with a 220 TW will last an average of 14400 miles. the 420 treadwear tires will last an average of 30240 miles.

The next thing to look at is price!!!!!!
You know the TW & TR so why are tires priced so high? There are 2 very important reasons........Labor & advertizing. If labor is high & $$ is spent on advertizing........tire prices go up.

The last thing is prestege.........there are some guys that only drive the high $$ tires because they are convinced the tire is better than a cheaper tire. There is a quality difference in some but tires must pass FEDERAL testing before it can even be sold!!!!! OK now the prestage is there because those high $$ tires will have better traction in hard cornering & race conditions..........how many people really race their corvette........

Sorry for the long post but this question has been asked over & over & I can't remember anyone ever explaining TW & TR.......Good luck.

Thanks for adding this article. It was a very interesting read. It just solidified my thoughts about getting the Michelins as the replacements for my Goodyears. I know a few people who have the Michelins and like them. I hate the GY's and the noise they generate, but I want to use runflats. I talked to people that had other brands, but after reading this, it will be the Michelins.

I had the ASX for 10,000 miles. The fronts show llittle wear, but the rears are showing the wear bar. I didn't do many burnout, so I guess the rears were really soft.
On a related isue, and someone can correct me if I'm wrong, I was told that a correct toe in leads to wear on the inside of the fronts. At least that is the dogma at my local vette club. My fronts are wearing on the inside, I accept that, and I only want to but ASX priced tires from that reason.

I would never buy another Goodyear product. I had them on one of my trucks. I experienced tire separation with one of the tires and discovered that this particular tire had a documented history of tire separations similar to the Firestones on Ford Explorers. Goodyear would not stand behind any of the tires , including the one that had separated. They were happy to sell me a new set at full retail. No Goodyears for me, never!!

I am also looking into getting new tires and as you can see from everyone here, the GS D3's are the preferred tires and I would love to get them but they are also not ment for near freezing temps, although it can still be used in them just not recommended, personally since I have near freezing temps here too I am looking at Pirelli P Zero Nero's, I was kind of skeptical with them at first because I was thinking it was all about the name but from the research I have done, they look to be a pretty good tire. Good luck with your choice and let us know what you end up getting

Thanks to everyone for your input. We decided to go with the Kumho Ecsta ASX and they are AWESOME! Affordable, Quiet and Smooth! Don't know how long they will last, but we are gonna give it a shot. They are so much quieter than the GY Run Flats that we couldn't believe it.
Thanks again !

For a "daily driver", I highly recommend the Goodyear and Michelin model tires mentioned above. But, for those who want WIDE (355mm wide), Pirelli tires fit the bill.

tire noise difference between the original runflats and the GS D3's is like night and day. Handling is a lot better too.
