I have a 2004 with a few mods (cai, cat back, stereo upgrade and a few others). I am planning to do LT's, high flow cats, 4.10s and a tune, will this be an issue with the GMPP plan and if it will what other choice would I have in an extended warranty?
Depends on the dealership. The service manager where I got my Vette from was totally fair about it. As long as I didn't expect a modded item to be replaced under the warranty he was ok with it. Some dealerships can make things as hard as possible on you. I picked my Vette up from the dealership one day and the service manager had his regional manager with him in his car and the service manager told him that that was one of the Vettes hey sold. I was at a red light and when it turned green.....I did my usual staging scenario and nailed it. When the regional manager saw me do this, he told the manager to get my plate and void my warranty for driving the car too aggressively. Can you believe that crap. Basically the service manager laughed at him and ask him how he expected a Vette to be driven.

Be very careful here. A very good friend has a new C6 Z06 with LT's & a tune. He wound up breaking a valve / melting a piston. GMPP saw the headers and completly denied the warranty. They are justifiably tired of repairing motors that have been modified. The up side is he now has a very wicked Katech motor, down side he paid for it out of his pocket. So while portions will remain covered some claims could be denied. Your experience may vary.

Well lets put it this way. I have an '01 Z06 with only CAI, Ported throttlebody and exhaust and before I can get the rings replaced ( Oil consumption ) I have to take the car back to stock. A GMPP rep came out and this was what he said. He said the aftermarket parts could cause more oil consumption . I had already gone through the whole oil consumption test and such to get this done and this is what tells me. Talking about PI$$ED! Nedless to say I will wait till the warranty is about to expire and then take it back to stock and pretty much have a new top end when they go to do the reringing. It's something to pay for a warranty and GMPP try to wiggle out of something that is a well known problem with alot of '01 Z06's due to some measley little aftermarket parts that don't and will not cause oil consumption as we all know. I think some of these people need to know a little more about cars before they go becoming an adjuster. Anyways just my experience and my opinion, lol.
Thanks for the replies. So now I really don't know what to do, spend the $$$$$$ on the warranty and hope for the best or just hope for the best??????

If money is an issue do the warranty route if you plan to keep your Vette. Having a modded Vette is more fun than you can believe but trust me, if it was close to landing me in the poor house, I would not have done it. Where I am today took 6yrs of careful planning, lot's of saving and OT hrs worked. Don't bite off more than you can chew it will take away from the enjoyment of having a Vette
Your first error is in assuming it is a warranty. It is not a warranty. It is a service contract (an insurance policy). The rules are different than warranty rules.

I think a tremendous amount of this question has to do with your relationship with the service mgr. at the dealership.........
Yup I agree. Thing is with as few miles as I have on the car I have no relationship with the service department. I didn't even buy it at a local dealership I bought it at Doug chevy down your way in Akron.
I believe in pay as you play, why expect someone else (in this case a Warranty Company or GM )to pay for your
cars repairs. Wait 'til your 3 year warranty is up, (its fully covered you know), then go nuts with whatever Mods you want. When it breaks go have it fixed and bring your checkbook.

Point taken. I'm not looking to get modded items fixed but what about the rest of the car? Say the drivers seat stops working or the AC goes out or the headlights no longer go up and down, thats what I'm talking about. Anyway in the end I think your approach is the one I will be taking.
