Default Computer trouble (at home)

OK - I have been having trouble when there is a link to go to that shows pictures of 'how to's' on the Forum. When I go to these all i see is the writing and a blank place where the pictures should be. Also on the page where all the threads are i no longer see anything but the posters name - No pics of the cars. I have an old computer (6 years) still running windows 98. I have plenty of memory, plenty of hard drive space, ANY one who might be a computer wiz PLEASE let me know what is wrong.
THANKS!!!!!

One possibility, Java conflict. Is there a small square with an x in it at the top left of where the picture should be? If so, try going to sun.com and download the latest version for windows 98. Also, what resolution is your screen set to? Can you display other pictures not on the forum?

That is most of the problem. As technology improves (windows 2000, XP, Vista), Microsoft slowly dwindles out old programing (example Java scripting), as most of the systems being used are XP or newer. This is the way Microsoft can legally monopolize the market & keep selling new systems. You will find that as you continue to use the win. 98 system, the more problems you will have as scripts for Jpeg's, bitmaps (pictures) change, along with animated gifs......ect. Although your win 98 core system works well, Microsoft wants you to buy new so the longer you have 98, the less you will be able to do with it.

there are many inexpensive Windows XP systems out there and you will find that if you use you PC much XP or Vista will be far more stable than 98 and you can still get the Java VM for these systems.

Download Firefox here :

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox...FSQsYQodsQH4Vw

It will get you away from depending on MickeySoft for your browser updates at least. It is a better browser than internet explorer.
