Has anybody here ever heard of xzilon paint protection? It's one of those paint protection/anti-etching compounds. I've heard amazing things about it, but I've never used it. Anyway, the point is I was able to get my hands on some and I was wondering if anybody has ever had this stuff on their car?
We have used it on a corporate 737 for about 2 years. Good results. Keeps the finish pretty, but not sure it is worth the trouble on a car. You have to follow the instructions EXACTLY, or you are wasting your time.
A Vette is small enough that it can be waxed often, needing only a few hours. An airplane takes many man hours to polish correctly, so increased intervals between waxing is more important.
a sales rep has came to the dealership and showed us this product. seems pretty good. i understand it bonds to the paint molecularly ( was that spelled right ?) and does not come off ever. i have a few co workers that had it applied to their cars and it does shine well. but, those same cars now have a unremoveable shine over the top of all their little scratches and faded paint. and you can see the paint flaws right quick. so... i guess if it was put on a new cars paint, or a perfectly polished and flawless older cars paint it would be the stuff to use. i preffer the good old wax myself. any small scratches could be buffed out easily and not need this stuff reapplied. from what i understand this product is not for sale unless applied via an authorized dlr. how did you hear about it?? i also understand it was originaly designed for airplanes too
I'm a used car dealer and the rep I get my extended warranties, etc. from was trying to get me to sign up for this as a promotion to customers. Kind of like an anti-etching service for the cars we sell. Long story short, I don't know enough about the product to sign up with him and feel comfortable, but he did give me an unopened bottle of the stuff and some applicators and told me I should at least put it on my car(He knows I have a vette with only 5600 miles). Needless to say, without much prior knowledge of the product I'm a little hesitant to put it all over my car.
Try Rejex. Also developed for airplanes, but is as easy to use as any wax. 1 coat last 6 months. I use 2 coats and reapply once a year. Awesome protection and shine. Nothing sticks to it.
I am looking at a can of it right now. It was given to me, but I am hesitant in using it. I was told it has a 7 day shelf life when opened, and I really don't want to put it on my car as I like the cars shelf life. From what I understand it is very expensive, but I don't know. I think it's going to stay in the can.
