HIR Bulb Replacement Question
But what I do is park in the garage with the nose about 10 feet from the back wall.
turn on the lights and mark the point that each headlight hits with a masking tape a big + (cross) about 1 foot by 1 foot.
DO not move the car...
Change the bulbs, turn the lights on and ensure that the beams are still centered on the + of masking tape.

Great recommendation, also note that after installing the new bulbs and the aim is way off, the bulb is either not completely turned into the socket or one or more of the bulb tabs is not properly seated in the socket.
Adding to rws.1's tip, I'd also mark the high beam pattern on the wall. Reason being is that the C5 headlamp assembly moves as an entire unit when aiming the headlights, that means that any headlamp adjustment moves the high and low beam at the same time.
If after installing your new HIR's the new pattern is off, but your high beam is dead on, you have a bulb installed improperly.
Before making any adjustments, spray some WD40 into the adjusters to free them up, have seen a lot of folks tear the adjusters up after doing headlight change outs.
