I have tried everything!! Seafoam, techron, parking on a slant, etc. I am now assuming that the sending units or unit is no longer functioning. Is this something that I can replace and if so, what kind of a job is it? If I have to take it in to the stealership, is it going to cost an arm and a leg. My extended warranty is just about up. Help, please. The gauge will not show full when I fill up and then after a short while, the needle goes to empty and I get a low fuel warning. I can reset the code and it will last for a short while.
Out of warranty, it cost me approx. $700 parts & labor.
That's cheap compared to what the stealership told me.....I think they wanted $1300 to do the job! I am in the process of trying Seafoam right now and tried one tank of techron before that. So far....I still have a gauge that reads 3/4 full even if full. I am going to do another treatment or two of Seafoam.
Don't give up. Continue to use Seafoam (or better yet Techron) and then fill up only with gas containing techron. I had the same issue for months and finally started judiciously treating the gas with techron and now only fill up with Chevron. Have not had a problem for months

During the 50th anniversary in Nashville, I discussed this with Dave Hill and the solution was a software program that basically told the computer to ignore the invaid signals and only record the actual fuel level. The local dealer added this under warranty. This has worked great since. Mine is a 2000.
I had the same issue when I first got my car 1 1/2 years ago. I started ONLY running the highest octane and only from BP, Shell, Chevron, etc. I guess the problem has been gone for a year now. I had actually forgot about it until this thread.
Mine stuck at 44,000 miles and I added STP Complete fuel system cleaner and it did the trick until I reached 69,500 miles and I noticed it was sticking again so I went to Walmart and bought another can of the same stuff. It cleared up the sticking.
I put it in the tank and then fill up and take a nice long drive.
Just make sure you get the "COMPLETE FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER" and not the injecter cleaner by its self.
