Doesn't sound like too bad of a price, but if you can wait, Bloomington Gold is June 15-17 in St. Charles IL. There will be hundreds of cars for sale there and you can see them in person. Just a suggestion.
There has been lots of good replies and this one is one of the best as you will see them in person and if you do not find the one you want then get the out of town one, just my 2c
I would never pay 16-17k for a Corvette that I have never driven. The photos never show the true car. The paint might have tons of scratches... Many chips etc.... Find one close to home and drive the thing and look it over... Two recent buys..
Sorry about the late reply , Dependable Auto Shippers is the place that quoted me the lowest , they give you an immediate quote. Do not get me wrong , i am not by any means telling you that they are a good safe company, becasue i have never used them. All i know is that thier price was considerably cheaper. Do some research on them , and ask some forum members with experience if they have ever used them.
GOOD LUCK , AND CONGRATS
hi, they were actually one of the higher quotes i got. also, i found a web sight that has reviews on shipping companies. it's transportreviews.com. looks like worry free is the cheapest @$745 and has pretty good reviews.

1996 Corvette 20k miles Torch Red 16.5 price
1998 Corvette 23k miles for 22k price.
Skip the 1997 and at least get a 1998 or 1999
Also try to find one with 30-40k miles...
A 97 is a fine Vette. I say fly out drive back. I picked up mine on a rode trip, I made it to all the way to Houston Tx. till I got the right one.

Good advice..get a 98-00 w/ the active handling option..and you could
go alittle higher on miles in the 40-60K range to save on price.
hi, i'm looking to buy my first c5. i posted a wtb on this forum, but nothing promising yet. i found a red c5 with 85K on it in california. it has climate control and chrome wheels. them are the only upgrades i'm aware of. i've seen pics and car seems very clean. it has clean carfax and its a 2 owner vehicle. right now were at $16.5, but i'm going to offer her $16. i will have to pay $1k for shipping from california to illinois, which is the best deal i could find. so the question is, does that seem like a fair price? thanks, steve
Whatever you do, don't rush a sale. Lots of cars out there. The more time you spend looking the happier you'll be in the end knowing you found the right car. Lots to learn. You've found the right place for schoolin'. I spent four solid months looking for the 'right' car. It was worth the time. Plus it makes a good story to tell the uninitiated. Best of luck.
I agree with everyone above that says, "“Whoa , cowboy … take a deep breath and think a moment!” Please ask yourself two questions … why hasn’t this car sold locally (if it is such a good deal, in the condition claimed, etc…) at this price? Did I run a Car Fax report?
Zip 93003 is in Ventura, CA … I ran a KBB price of my 02 Z06 with 29,000 miles in excellent condition and say no difference in price than the local market in Las Cruces, New Mexico. If the owner is trying to claim the car is worth more there than were you live … then why hasn’t it sold there ? After all, the local interested parties can simply (personally) look at the car and judge its value. Reading many of your defensive replies trying to justify this purchase, justifies the skepticism of many of the forum members in the wisdom of your potential decision.
Please … don’t make a mistake by letting your enthusiasm of being a future Vette owner destroy a life long passion for the car. If you make a mistake now … you may never want to own America’s True Sports Car again, when you are burned by your first purchase.
This car maybe a diamond or it maybe a lump of coal … only time and patience will tell.
I just did a Kelly Blue Book on it and in excellent condition it comes in at 15,100. I assumed it was an a4.
If you want to check it out for yourself goto kbb.com.
KKB is ONLY a rough estimate. It says so on the the KBB site. It depends on condition and the market. Enter the same criteria as you did and change the mileage to 10. See what I mean? You would never get a brand new 97 for that price.
