I think I read that regular tap/drinking water was acceptable, but don't have my owners manual handy right now. I think old55 intends to mix with his favorite antifreeze.

It says clean drinkable water in 50/50 mix with Dex-Cool. I personally would only use Distilled Water.

Yeah, me too. Back in the day before maintenance free batteries you could shorten the life of the battery using tap water. Back then my Mom was still alive and I'd rob some of her ironing water (distilled) I don't mind going the extra steps to do it correctly, Just without Mom around I didn't know where it came from.
Common sense tell me that some city water systems are better than other systems. I have never bought distilled water for a radiator (battery yes). If I was overly concerned, I would just draw tap water through the filter that is installed on my kitchen faucet.
At your local supermarket water section. "Purified" is another named used also.
Make sure it says "Distilled", which means it has no disolved mineral or chemical deposits in it. Purified is only free of germ and bacterial matter.
Purified Water is described in the USP 23 monograph as follows:
"Purified Water is water obtained by distillation, ion-exchange treatment, reverse osmosis, or other suitable process. It is prepared from water complying with the regulations of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with respect to drinking water. It contains no added substances."
Basically, the term "Purifed Water" is used to refer to "pure" water that can be obtained from several different methods, one of which is distilling.
