Default external temperature sensor

The external temperature in my '00 vert doesn't register right. Last week, it was in the 90's & it read 32. Is there a quick fix or do I need to take it in to a shop? Also, my wipers only work if I push the "wash" buttton. Is there a sensor or a switch for this?

Thanks for any answers!

Sounds like a bad temp sensor which is somewhat common. Temp sensor is 10 or 15 bucks and is easily changed by you. I'ts inder the front bumper on the passenger side of the radiator inmtake area.

Afa as the wiper switch, need to do a bit of troubleshooting to see if the switch is bad.

What color are the wires going to it? Where can you pick up the sensor? I'm having the same problem with my 98.

The closeup of the sensor in that drawing shows the bullet nose that just sticks out of the radiator shroud. The connector plugs in from the back of the sensor so it's a 5-minute swap. Just find the sensor and you'll see how to access the connector.

I agree with Patches. Replace the temperature sensor and I'd bet it solves the reading error.

When you get the new sensor, it will not have the "pigtail" attached. you will have to strip the wires on the old one, and insert into the new clip.

Peace
