well im 21 and thought id want something a little more NEW looking..so me being stupid and not wanting to save my money thought id go out and see whats out there...i looked online in my area, foud a 2000 sliver with tan interior..hope i dont hurt any ones feelings but not really my color scheme. but anywase..first problem might be is that it was at a FORD dealership,,well, got inside and the seats were worn, shift **** was worn too and its only a 2000 so i automaticly thought that the guy drove crazy and hard..but body was clean and no cracks no dents ect. drove fine except for the clutch wasnt as smooth as mine it was really sticky car was quiet as all hell.. and felt like i was driving a car. alot more open inside..differant for sure..prettty fast, didnt get on it too hard..but with it being stock and mine having an exhaust and an intake, didnt feel TOO much faster than mine, couldnt tell a differance, honestly mine felt a WHOLE HELL OF ALOT better than the C5..sounded better and felt alive and racier....funny thing is, they wanted 25,995 and it was again a 2000 with 66,000 miles on it. not many options either..6spd...i told em id give em 17,000 out the door cash, he laughed, so i threw him the keys and took off...i drove another one before too, an 01 with 45,000 tripple black.. chrome rims, GORGIOUS...shook had ABS warning light on, said service traction control and chewed going into 4th gear. sounded to me like it had a syncro problem...too bad, looks like im sticking with the 94,,
I can totaly understand you wanting to stay with your 94. However, dont judge all C5's off of the 2 dogs you drove. There are many out there for alot less money, with alot less miles. You can get into an 01 Z06 for the kind of money they were asking on the 2000. For $17k, you will be able to get into a 97-99, with mid miles. You need to search for them, but thats 1/2 the fun!
I love the c5's body style, i get a chub everytime i look at em,,,i like my C4 cause it coasts me no money,,,repairs ...there are none..but the c5...MMMMM....sexxxyy,, just wish i could find one that is like mine..white ext. red/black int. black rims..black windows..97-99 for around 15-18 40,000 miles...mmmmm,,,but my c4 will never leave my family..i dont hate C5's i love them, just hate the people that owned those c5's and the ones that were selling them...
That's too high. You can buy C5's all day long at Autotrader.com for
@ 19k. There fast 345shp but for now I'd keep the C4 until you can find something a little more reasonable. If your in the shopping mood get'cha a C6. I know, I know.
seems like uve tried to already convince someone of getting a c6 and know the responces quite well?? well my dad drove his buddies 07 with paddle shift...he WAS in line to get a 645li bmw,,but hes getting a c6 now for sure...trying to push him into a z06 C6..hehe..but i will be patient because i know theres ones out there and at the right moment, ill steal one..reall cheap..like when someone REALLY needs the money..
I woudnt mind an 04 Z06 but they arent that much less than a new C6. I really like the dash setup adnd steering wheel, simple analog layout. Just too many electronics, not sure Id want to own a car like that out of warranty. The drivetrains they have are pretty tempting though.

Thats a good point a C5 or C6 out of warranty could wipe out your life savings in a Yew Yark minute.
I already have a Corvette, if I were going to buy a newer one I would buy a C6. The C5 is a really nice car but it's not the latest and greatest anymore. I already have a Corvette that is not the latest and greatest and it's paid for.

Over complicated cars.
Um no at least not on the C5. If you do the majority of the repairs yourself these easier and cheaper to work on then a Honda. The computer tells you exactly where to look. Honda and Toyota parts are big $$$ and they do break sometimes just look at the repair departments.
At 6'2" ..the C-4 just was not an option for me.
Loved the look, found a nice red coupe, went to get into it and could not. That rail at the door sill, the distance tween front and back of door opening, and roof opening all conspired against my 57 yr old frame (I dont bend-and-snap as well as I used to, and my girlish figure is roont by desk jobs ..altho I am workin to get some back
The c-5 tho ... oh ya.. wife and I lovin it.
Our daily driver.
My weekend bracket car.
Our Vette club cruiser.
Over 100k miles on it, purrs like a kitten till you open it up
Ya..it's an automatic ..I built an raced an auto car for 15 years, with a few peices I can do anything I ever did with a 4-gear ..and I never miss a gear doin it.
Derek,
Good to see another local on the forum.
I loved my 96 C4, especially the red/black interior. I've had 3 C4's over the years and never thought I'd sell any of them. Then I came across an 00 previously owned by a retired gentleman who used it as a daily driver for a few years until he decided to get something "practical" so I bought his 00 pewter coupe from him. What a difference from my 96. In all honesty I don't notice that much of a power difference (my c5 coupe is stock and my 96 was an LT4), but the ride is MUCH smoother and less squeaky in the C5. Easier to get in and out of, better gas mileage, easier to get top in/out, and get this... Cheaper insurance . Downs to a C5 vs C4 is that there seem to be more electrical problems on C5's (steering column lock, poor grounds, etc) and to me C5's seem more complicated to work on, but other than that I have no regrets from moving to the C5.
